About this tool
WEBP is a modern format that Google promoted for the web, and browsers now save images in it by default from many sites. That is fine online and awkward everywhere else: plenty of desktop software, older phones, print shops and upload forms still do not accept it. Converting to JPG makes the image universally usable. Two details matter. WEBP supports transparency and JPG does not, so transparent areas are filled with a background color you choose, white by default. And WEBP is often already compressed, so the JPG may be slightly larger at the same visual quality, which is the price of compatibility. If you need transparency preserved, convert to PNG instead. If the destination is your own website, keeping WEBP is usually better, since it is typically 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG at matching quality.

Frequently asked questions
Why do I have WEBP files at all?
Many websites serve images as WEBP because it is smaller, and saving an image from the browser keeps that format.
Will the JPG be larger than the WEBP?
Often slightly, since WEBP compresses more efficiently. You are trading a little size for compatibility.
What happens to transparent areas?
They are filled with the background color you pick, since JPG cannot store transparency. Convert to PNG if transparency matters.
Is WEBP to JPG free?
Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark and no usage limit.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. WEBP to JPG runs entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device and nothing is stored - close the tab and everything is gone.
Which file types can I use?
WEBP. Files are checked by their actual content, not just the extension, so renamed or damaged files are caught early.
Is there a file size limit?
Each file can be up to 200.0 MB, and you can process up to 50 files at once. Because processing uses your device's memory, very large files work best on a computer.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers on Android and iPhone. Heavier jobs (large PDFs, OCR) are faster on a computer.
