About this tool

Splitting is useful in two very different situations. Sometimes you want each page as its own file, for example when scanning a stack of receipts in one pass. Sometimes you want deliberate sections, such as pages 1 to 3 as the application form and pages 4 to 12 as supporting documents. This tool handles both: choose every N pages for a mechanical split, or list custom ranges like 1-3, 4, 5- to produce one file per range. Pages keep their original quality because they are copied, not re-rendered, so a split page is byte for byte as sharp as it was. Results arrive as separate downloads or in a single ZIP, which is easier when you end up with thirty files. If you only need a few specific pages rather than a full split, Extract PDF Pages is the quicker route, and Delete PDF Pages removes the ones you do not want while leaving everything else in one file.

Frequently asked questions

How do I split a PDF into individual pages?

Choose Every N pages and set it to 1. You get one file per page, named with the page number, downloadable individually or as a ZIP.

Can I split by chapter or section?

Use custom ranges. Enter something like 1-10, 11-24, 25- and you get one file per range, in that order.

Does splitting reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied without re-encoding, so each piece is identical in quality to the original.

Is Split PDF free?

Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark and no usage limit.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Split PDF runs entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device and nothing is stored - close the tab and everything is gone.

Which file types can I use?

PDF. Files are checked by their actual content, not just the extension, so renamed or damaged files are caught early.

Is there a file size limit?

Each file can be up to 200.0 MB, and you can process up to 20 files at once. Because processing uses your device's memory, very large files work best on a computer.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers on Android and iPhone. Heavier jobs (large PDFs, OCR) are faster on a computer.
