About this tool

WebP is what most websites now serve, which is why images you save from a browser often end up as .webp files that older apps, editors and upload forms won't open. PNG is accepted almost everywhere. This tool decodes each WebP and writes it out as a lossless PNG, so nothing is lost in the conversion, and transparent areas stay transparent, which matters for logos, stickers and icons. The trade-off is file size: PNG is lossless, so a photo saved as PNG is usually several times larger than the WebP it came from. If you are converting photographs and don't need transparency, WebP to JPG gives far smaller files. Animated WebP files are converted to a single still frame. Conversion happens in your browser, so you can convert a folder of images quickly without uploading them anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Is transparency kept?

Yes. Transparent and semi-transparent pixels are preserved in the PNG.

Why is the PNG bigger than the WebP?

PNG is lossless, so it stores every pixel exactly. For photos without transparency, WebP to JPG gives much smaller files.

What about animated WebP?

The PNG contains a single frame. PNG has no widely supported animation format.

Is WEBP to PNG free?

Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark and no usage limit.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. WEBP to PNG runs entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device and nothing is stored - close the tab and everything is gone.

Which file types can I use?

WEBP. Files are checked by their actual content, not just the extension, so renamed or damaged files are caught early.

Is there a file size limit?

Each file can be up to 200.0 MB, and you can process up to 50 files at once. Because processing uses your device's memory, very large files work best on a computer.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers on Android and iPhone. Heavier jobs (large PDFs, OCR) are faster on a computer.
