About this tool
Every platform crops uploads to its own shape, and if you hand it the wrong ratio it decides what to cut. Presets here cover the sizes that matter: 1080 by 1080 and 1080 by 1350 for Instagram posts, 1080 by 1920 for stories and reels, 1280 by 720 for YouTube thumbnails, 1584 by 396 for LinkedIn banners, and so on, plus a custom option. The fit mode is the decision worth thinking about. Crop to fill uses the whole frame and trims the edges, which suits photographs. Fit with a background keeps the entire image and adds color around it, which suits screenshots, posters and anything with text near the edge, since losing words is worse than showing a border. Batches of up to 50 images can be processed with the same preset, which is how you prepare a campaign in one pass rather than one file at a time.

Frequently asked questions
Should I crop or fit?
Crop for photographs, where trimming the edges is harmless. Fit for screenshots, posters and graphics with text near the edges.
Are these sizes current?
They follow each platform's commonly recommended dimensions. Platforms change occasionally, so a custom size option is always available.
Can I do a whole campaign at once?
Yes, up to 50 images per batch with the same preset, downloadable together as a ZIP.
Is Social Media Image Resizer free?
Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark and no usage limit.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Social Media Image Resizer runs entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device and nothing is stored - close the tab and everything is gone.
Which file types can I use?
JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, HEIC, SVG, ICO. Files are checked by their actual content, not just the extension, so renamed or damaged files are caught early.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers on Android and iPhone. Heavier jobs (large PDFs, OCR) are faster on a computer.
