About this tool

Batch work is where local processing shows its advantage. Fifty photos to an upload-based service means fifty uploads and fifty downloads, and a wait governed by your connection. Here they are processed on your own machine, in parallel where your device has the cores for it, with no transfer at all. Each file is handled independently, so a corrupt or unsupported image is reported with a reason while the rest continue rather than failing the whole batch. Results can be downloaded individually or as one ZIP. The same quality and width settings apply to every file, which is what you want for a folder of photographs from one shoot, and less suitable for a mixed folder of screenshots and photos, where the right setting differs. The optional width cap is worth using: for a website or a blog, 1600 or 1920 pixels is plenty, and capping it often saves more than the quality setting does.

Frequently asked questions

How many images can I compress at once?

Up to 50 files and 500 MB per batch, which keeps your browser responsive while processing.

What happens if one image fails?

It is marked with the reason and the rest continue. Nothing is lost and the batch is not abandoned.

Can I download everything together?

Yes. A single Download all button packages the results into one ZIP.

Is Bulk Image Compressor free?

Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark and no usage limit.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Bulk Image Compressor runs entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device and nothing is stored - close the tab and everything is gone.

Which file types can I use?

JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, HEIC. Files are checked by their actual content, not just the extension, so renamed or damaged files are caught early.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers on Android and iPhone. Heavier jobs (large PDFs, OCR) are faster on a computer.
