About this tool
PNG is the right choice when you want to edit an iPhone photo further, paste it into a design or document, or keep every detail with no extra compression. Unlike JPG, PNG is lossless, so the converted image is an exact copy of what the HEIC decoder produced and can be edited and saved again without getting worse. The trade-off is size: a PNG of a full-resolution iPhone photo is often several times larger than the HEIC and the equivalent JPG, so for sharing, email or uploads HEIC to JPG is usually the better pick. This converter works in any modern browser. Safari opens HEIC by itself; in Chrome, Edge and Firefox a decoder of about 1.5 MB loads the first time you add a HEIC photo and is cached after that. Decoding happens on your own device, nothing is uploaded, and location and camera details from the original are not copied into the PNG. Add up to 50 photos at once and download them as a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions
PNG or JPG for iPhone photos?
PNG if you'll edit the photo again or need it lossless. JPG for sharing and uploads, since files are much smaller.
Why is the PNG so large?
PNG stores every pixel exactly. A full-resolution photo as PNG is often several times the size of the HEIC or a JPG.
Does it work in Chrome on Windows?
Yes, and in Edge, Firefox and Safari, on Windows, Mac, Android and Chromebook. Outside Safari a decoder loads once, then it's cached.
Is HEIC to PNG free?
Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark and no usage limit.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. HEIC to PNG runs entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device and nothing is stored - close the tab and everything is gone.
Which file types can I use?
HEIC. Files are checked by their actual content, not just the extension, so renamed or damaged files are caught early.
Is there a file size limit?
Each file can be up to 200.0 MB, and you can process up to 50 files at once. Because processing uses your device's memory, very large files work best on a computer.
Are there any limitations?
Works in every modern browser. Outside Safari, a 1.5 MB decoder downloads the first time you open a HEIC photo, then stays cached.
